(3-3-22) For the first time in school history Winnebago will be playing for an Illinois High School Association (IHSA) State girls basketball title.

The Indians beat Fieldcrest 51-47. Winnebago was led by Campbell Schrank’s 18 points and 8 rebounds, Annika Bielskis and Renee Rittmeyer both added 12 points.

Fieldcrest’s Kaitlin White led all scorers with 20 points and Ashlyn May added 10 points.

Winnebago had to hang on for the win, after leading 34-12 at the half…Fieldcrest made a gallant attempt to come back outscoring the Indians 35-17.

Winnebago out rebounded Fieldcrest 39-28.

Winnebago will play #3 ranked Quincy Notre Dame for the 2A state championship Saturday at 1 p.m.
