(6-11-22) Today at Canal Park in Akron at the State D IV State Baseball Championship game Russia beat Lincolnview in impressive style 10-4.

The Lancers threw their top pitcher and D IV Player of the Year Landon Price, Russia did what many teams have not done over the years they hit him, scored runs on him and picked up the win.

But for Price it was a long day for the Ohio State commit…he exited the the game after hitting his pitch limit (125) after 5.2 IP, allowing 3 runs (2 earned) on 8 hits, 2 walks with 10 Ks.

After Price left the game the Raiders would open the floodgates and finished the bottom of the 6th inning scoring 7 runs and taking a 10-2 lead. Lincolnview would not give up scoring 2 runs in the top of the 7th…but it was to little to late and Russia would pick up a 10-4 state title win.

Russia’s Xavier Philpot picked up the complete game win allowing 4 runs, 3 earned on 8 hits, 1 walk with five K’s on 109 pitches.

On offense the Raiders had 13 hits and were led by SS Braylon Cordonnier who was 3 of 4, with 2 RBIs and scoring 2 runs. C Aiden Shappie was 3 for 3, with 2 RBIs and scored a run.

Price, Binkley (1 triple) and Bockrath (1 double) all had two hits for Lincolnview.

Russia wins their first State Baseball Championship since 1971. For Lincolnview they end up as state runner-up for the 2nd year in a row.
