(10-5-22) Three weeks remain in the Ohio HS football season, computer points matter, for Celina according to football guru Joe Eitel…the Bulldogs control own destiny.

This is the 2nd season that the OHSAA playoffs include 16 teams from each region. Celina, who is in D III, is presently 5-2 on the season and in the 11th qualifying slot. There are 27 teams that comprise Region 12.
The Bulldogs started out the season with two consecutive losses (Versailles and Van Wert), but have put together a 5-game winning streak.

Of those five wins only one team currently has a winning record, Elida (4-3). The other four (Shawnee, Kenton, Bath and O-G) have a combined overall record of 3-25. The five consists of 2 – D III teams, 2 – D IV teams and 1- D V team.

The Bulldogs final three games see all of those teams with winning records, Defiance at 5-2, Wapakoneta 6-1 (#4 in Region 12) and Grand Lake rival St. Marys at 5-2.
The last time Celina qualified for the playoffs based on computer points was in 2015 (every school qualified during pandemic in 2020).
