Dunn and Nelson

(1-10-23) The days of quietly transferring high schools in order to play football are now in past…now some transfers are posted on Twitter.

Luke Dunn (5’11 175lb) spent most of last season as the starting QB for Moeller. In 13 games, Dunn completed 62.1% of his passes (131-for-211) and led the Greater Catholic League-South in passing yards (1,856) and touchdowns (18) with five interceptions. Moeller, a DI national power…Withrow is a D II school and went 8-4 on the season.

Another ‘high profile’ transfer to Withrow in November will give Dunn a quality target when he looks for a receiver..freshman Chris Henry Jr. (6’3 170lb). Henry spent his freshman season at West Clermont, where he had 29 catches for 292 yards and five touchdowns.

It has been a busy week in the Ohio HS transfer portal, at least in the Cincinnati area. Walnut Hills QB T.J. Nelson (6’0 190lbs) transferred to Anderson. Walnut Hills, a D I school, went 0-10 this past football season. Anderson, a D II school, went 5-5 during the regular season, but ended the year on a playoff run to end 8-6.

In the last two seasons Nelson threw for more than 2,500 yards and ran for nearly 800 yards more with 25 total touchdowns (15 passing, 10 rushing).

Don’t be surprised if we continue to see more transfers statewide…the trend increases every year in Ohio and around the US.
