(4-19-23) The 2023 Nancy Rehm Border Wars Classic will be played on April 30th at 2pm on the campus of St. Francis University at the Hutzell Athletic Center.
The annual game will feature stars from Northeast Indiana taking on stars from Northwest Ohio. Playing for the Ohio stars is Coldwater’s Riley Rismiller (U of Dayton signee) The Coldwater connection is a part of that tragic night that Nancy lost her life. Coldwater grad Joan Gilliland, who was her teammate at the time, was with her when the shooting happened. Although it was a very sad night,thanks to many dedicated individuals over the years a lot of good has come in providing scholarships and remembering an outstanding lady whose life was cut to short.
The Northeast Indiana stars feature six players from the Summit Athletic Conference from Ft. Wayne. Ft. Wayne Snider Head Coach Reggie Tharp will be the coach.

How did Fort Wayne Bishop Luers spell victory R-E-H-M…during high school career, a high scoring guard led the Knights to the Summit Athletic Conference, a sectional and regional title in 1980…named player of the year by the Journal Gazette…after high school recruited by William Penn (Iowa) and played one semester…came back to Indiana and was recruited by Indiana Institute of Technology…she led them to a state championship…led team in free throw percentage 75%, field goal percentage 52% and assists 6.4 pg…Bishop Luers and Indiana Tech retired her jersey in 1982 after she was tragically shot and killed…in her memory her family started what was the Nancy Rehm Basketball Tournament and the Nancy Rehm Award…that escalated to what is now the Nancy Rehm Border Wars Basketball All-Stars…has raised millions for scholarships for seniors in NE Indiana and NW Ohio for both girls and boys…how does basketball spell success R-E-H-M.
