(9-17-23) Week 4 of the 2023 Illinois high school football season is in the books. The Illinois Independent Conference (IIC) members…went 1-7 in non-conference games and 1-2 against out of state opponents.

This week two IIC conference games were played, the games are used in case it is needed to break a tie in the standings,

Althoff Catholic lost for the first time this season and with a Mater Dei win we now have a horse race for the top spot with both teams being 3-1.

Did you know…

Granite City and Cahokia have forfeited their games from last weekend due to suspensions from a bench-clearing fight that occurred with three minutes left in the contest between the schools last Friday.

Cahokia led 54-14 but the contest was deemed a double forfeit by the Illinois High School Association.

Granite City school administrators indicated that the IHSA was involved in the disciplinary process.

Cahokia (2-2) will forfeit its South Seven contest at Carbondale. Granite City forfeited its game to Centralia on Friday.

Why The SSN’s Illinois Independent Conference????

To add a little extra excitement for the Illinois high school football teams playing an independent schedule. It is tough being an independent in Illinois.

All 11 Illinois independent high schools are included, Won-Lost records, weekly scores, highlights, all-independent team will be named at the end of the year. The IIC is not an actual conference but it hopes to provided the benefit of one.

This is just a way for SSN to promote these student-athletes. SSN hopes that all the schools will enjoy this during the season
