(6-9-24) The Ft. Recovery Cinderella run for the OHSAA D IV State Baseball title ended tonight at Canal Park in Akron with a hard fought 3-2 loss to Berlin Hiland.

Ft. Recovery started off the scoring in the bottom of 1st inning. Caden Homan grounded out to 2b scoring Troy Homan. Caden Grisez would single down the LF line to score Reece Wendel.

In the top of the 4th inning the Hawks Danny Hostetler reached first base on a throwing error scoring Brady Yoder which was an unearned run.

A two-run 6th inning gave Berlin Hiland all the runs they needed to seal win the and the Championship. The winning runs scored on a 2 RBI double to right center field by Grady Monigold that scored Kaden Kandel and Colin Coblentz.

The Indians Caden Grisez in a gutsy effort took the loss pitching all 7 innings giving up 3 runs just 2 of them were earned runs, 8 hits, 3 strikeouts and 1 walk.

The Hawks used two pitchers…Brady Yoder picked up the win in relief going 3 innings, 0 runs, 1 hit, 4 strikeouts and 0 walks Starter Finn Schneider went 4 innings, 2 runs, 5 hits, 0 strikeouts and 1 walk.

The Hawks with the win make it back-to-back state titles and their third in school history.

Ft. Recovery, after ending the regular season at 9-12, ends the Cinderella run finishing up with a 16-13 record. Berlin Hiland ends the year at 27-5.
