(2-2-26) Get your scorecard out if you live in Northeast Ohio…multiple schools are changing conferences and two new conferences have been formed.

Brush has been announced that it will be joining the newly formed United Athletic Conference. Members include Bedford, Warrensville Heights, Maple Heights, Garfield Heights and Youngstown (a combination of Chaney and East), Brush will begin play in the UAC in the winter season of the 2026-27 school year.

Because football schedules are set for this coming fall, UAC football schedules won’t begin until the following year.

Brush has been an independent since leaving the Western Reserve Conference after the 2020-21 school year.

The Chagrin Valley Conference — will be losing members and adding others.

Lutheran West will be leaving for the North Coast Conference, while Crestwood and Rootstown will leave the CVC for the newly formed Greater Portage Athletic Conference. Lutheran West, Crestwood and Rootstown will begin play in their new leagues starting with the 2027-28 school year.

Four schools are set to join the CVC this coming fall. Eastlake North, Willoughby South and Chardon are moving due to the Western Reserve Conference breaking up and Fairport Harding is joining from the NAC.

The new “Greater Portage Conference is forming for the 2027-28 school year, pending school board approvals.

. This Ohio-based league will include Waterloo, Southeast, Garfield, Ravenna, Akron Springfield, Rootstown, Crestwood, and Mogadore. The conference aims to unite schools primarily from Portage County and the surrounding area
