(5-15-26) The past several years has been a tough time and constant chaos for Parkway Athletics.

At the recent Parkway Schools Board of Education the discussion was focused on the recent decision of Parkway to make a change of the boys basketball coach… Doug Hughes.

The situation was one that had residents upset and concerned about what took place in making the change.

For Parkway the last several years has been a mess.

Twice turning down an invitation to join the Northwest Conference, numerous coaching changes and a struggling football program…to name just a few things.

The short tenure of football coach Jake Circle was one of constant bad press for the system and a bad hired for Parkway. This fall the Panthers will ‘again’ have another new coach.

A change of Superintendent seems to have focused on making changes, including the most recent one… the Doug Hughes situation.

The ‘dark cloud’ seems to be hovering over Parkway athletics…eyes will be watching how the changes taking place now look in the future..
