Last season for Wayne he had 1,009 receiving yards, catching 73 passes, 10 for touchdowns. On special teams he had multiple kick and punt return touchdowns.

This past spring Brown received an exception from the Ohio High School Athletic Association (OHSAA) in order to compete for Big Walnut at the association’s state track and field championships. Brown won three state championships (winning the 100 and 200 meters and anchoring the first-place 400 relay in Division II).

According to a recent story by the Columbus Dispatch it indicated that Brown would need to re-apply for the same exception in order to participate in a full football season at Big Walnut.

In the Dispatch story –

On July 21st…Tim Stried for the OHSAA.

“[Brown] is eligible for the first five games of the season, and in early October the OHSAA will conduct a review of his status in conjunction with Big Walnut and the family to determine his eligibility for Week 6 and beyond.’

In the same Dispatch story Big Walnut Coach Curtis Crager said-

“Our team, the community and the school are all exited for football season.”

But the Coach declined to talk about the eligibility of Brown.

Going back to Wayne could be a problem for his eligibility for football at Wayne…it will be interesting to see what the ruling by OHSAA officials will be…to approve or disapprove any participation this fall.

Brown made headlines after his family filed a lawsuit against the OHSAA while he was still at Wayne which would lead to the approval of a NIL (name, image and likeness) policy in Ohio.
