(9-10-26) Tuesday night Coldwater School officials discussed major athletic facility upgrades at the Board of Education meeting.
Coldwater has faced financial issues and recently had to get approval of school district residents for additional funds.The district has been fighting that battle for several years.

A major upgrade of the Coldwater gym (referred to as the Palace) will need the retractable bleachers to be replaced and the three courts to be refinished next summer (2027) for around $925,000.
The Coldwater track, that circles the varsity football field, looks to have approximately two years of use remaining. Depending on the condition of the subsurface, the cost be from $250,00-$300,000 or as much as $700,000-$800,000 to replace, according to school officials.
The gym upgrade has been included in the district’s 10-year-capital improvement plan.
The work schedule planned for the summer will be…press boxes will be removed from the gym between June 1-6, the bleachers will be replaced June 7-July 9, the entire gym floor will be refinished July 10-18, the press boxes will be returned July 19-25 and the gym will be reopened on July 26.
The funding of the projects have not been solidified, although the Coldwater Athletic Booster Club looks to be able to help.
