(10-12-26) A Louisiana high school football game between Capitol High and Thrive Academy ended in a brawl Friday night in Baton Rouge — and now the LHSAA is getting involved.
The Oct. 9 game at Memorial Stadium finished Capitol 26, Thrive Academy 24, but video from the stands shows players from both teams fighting near the end of the game, with the melee spilling across the field. The scoreboard read 26-24 with 2:30 left when chaos took over.
The LHSAA has launched a review and given both schools 48 hours to submit a written report. Consequences will be decided after the submissions are reviewed.

Thrive Academy issued a statement saying no students were injured, that it completed an internal investigation with video review, and that findings were shared with the LHSAA. The school will apply its own discipline alongside any LHSAA action and declined further comment during the review.
This is the second area brawl drawing LHSAA scrutiny in weeks — the Carroll–Assumption fight on Sept. 25 ended with Carroll’s season being suspended.
Synopsis—-
On Friday, Sept. 25, 2026, a postgame brawl erupted after Carroll High School of Monroe lost 14-6 to Assumption High School in Napoleonville. Several Carroll players rushed toward Assumption spectators instead of heading to the locker room, and the fight spread — Assumption Parish deputies used Tasers to break it up. Three players had already been ejected during the game for unsportsmanlike conduct, and the game was stopped early.
The LHSAA Sportsmanship Committee met Wednesday, Sept. 30, and came down hard: Carroll’s football program was suspended for the rest of the 2026 season, including the playoffs, with all remaining games recorded as forfeits. The school’s football coaches had their LHSAA coaching cards revoked for a full year. Assumption wasn’t spared either — a $500 fine, an action plan requirement, and no more home games this season.
