(3-13-17) Riverdale ended this season with a 66-59 win over Memphis Central to win their second consecutive Tennessee AAA state title. With that win they become the SSN National Public High School Champions, after holding down the #1 spot for most of the past season.

 

Riverdale senior  Anastasia Hayes, who was named the Tournament MVP,  led the way with 33 points, including 13-of-17 from the free throw line.

Riverdale ends the season with a perfect 34-0 record and 43 straight wins dating back to last season. To top off the season Warriors Head Coach Randy Coffman was named the 2017 Naismith High School Girls’ Coach of the Year, by the Atlanta Tipoff Club.

#3 Monacan hung on to win their third straight 4A state championship beating King’s Fork’s 60-59 and finish the season unbeaten. Senior Megan Walker had a double-double  with 35 points and 11 rebounds, plus she added six blocks and five steals.

 

#4 Grandview picked up a 61-32 victory over Lakewood to win their first Colorado 5A girls basketball title in school history. Michaela Onyenwere led the way for Grandview scoring 25 points (9-12 FG) and also added eight rebounds.

 

Also winning a 4-A North Carolina High School Athletic Association State Championship was Northwest Guilford, who upset undefeated Southeast Raleigh 36-34. The Vikings were led by future All-American Sophomore Elizabeth Kitley who was  named the game’s MVP, picking up a double-double with 15 points and 10 rebounds.

Two schools dropped out of the rankings, Milwaukee Rufus King  lost to Appleton North 75-52 in a WIAA Division 1 state semifinal. Quanniecia Morrison scored 24 points to lead McEachern to a 75-68 win over Norcross and claim the Georgia Class AAAAAAA girls title for its fourth straight championship.
