(4-29-17) Egg Harbor Township’s (NJ) Jordan Sweeney (6’3 2019, RHP, 1B) is this week’s SSN National Baseball Player of the Week.
The Sophomore had a game to remember on Friday (4-28-17), from the mound Sweeney threw a six inning no-hitter, striking out 8, he helped his cause on offense by going 3-4 with two home runs, including a grand slam, a 3-run homer and seven RBIs to lead Egg Harbor Township to a 13-2 Cape-Atlantic League win over Atlantic City.
After the game Sweeney talked to nj.com about his performance:
“I was more excited about the no-hitter because I get the chance to hit a grand slam in every game. It was the first no-hitter I’ve ever thrown.”
Atlantic City Head Baseball Coach Brent Bean told HSLive:
“Jordan Sweeney had one of the best single games of baseball I have ever seen as a baseball coach.”
Egg Harbor Head Coach Bryan Carmichael told nj.com:
“He’s been terrific. He’s elevating our program to a different level.
