(5-13-13) Today at the Big Ten Conference Track and Field Championships at Penn State, Ohio State’s Sarah Kanney (Coldwater) placed sixth (out of 16) in the 3,000m steeplechase and in the process set a Buckeye school record with her career best time of 10:22.74 (a seven-second improvement).

Kanney broke the 2011 record held by Tori Blink of 10:27.45 to earn three points for the Buckeyes.

Ohio State director of track & field and cross country Karen Dennis:

“As far as it goes for, what more can you say. Sarah transferred in this year and has been a tremendous addition to our distance group. She is only beginning to see how good she can be.”

Kanney is running the steeplechase this season for the first time in her career, her first year at Ohio State after transferring from North Carolina State..
