(9-16-17) Three former Stateline area football coaches are now coaching out of state, Jared Rolfes at Page (NC), Mike Fell at Mountain View and Mike Mauk at Glendale (Missouri).
Former Celina Football Coach Jared Rolfes picked up his 4th (4-1) win at Page (NC), his first year as the Pirates’ head coach, beating Reagan 31-3.
Rolfes talked about the win with greensboro.com after the game:
“Our special teams and our defense continued to show up and do some good things. But I also thought our offense played well in the first half. We had a really good drive to start the game. As long as we continue to reduce our mistakes, I think we have a chance to be a pretty good football team.”
The Pirates who have gone down to the wire in most of the games this season pick up the win with a little less drama..
Next up for Page is Southern Guilford on Friday night.

The Glendale (Missouri) Falcons (3-2), coached by former Kenton Coach Mike Mauk, pick up a 46-35 win over arch-rival Kickapoo and have now won two in a row after a mini losing streak of two.
Back to the form that made him Missouri’s Gatorade Player of the Year last year, former Kenton (Ohio) QB Alex Houston threw for 469 yards and 7 touchdowns (to four different receivers).
Houston told ozarksports.com after the game about the Falcons’ strategy.
“What was working for us was just getting the ball in and out. Getting them worn out in the first half and tired for the second. We were just trying to get the ball in and out, go down and score and then keep scoring so our defense had a chance to stop them.”
Falcons will be at home next week against Parkview.

Mountain View lost to #1 6A Mountain Pointe. The Toros only score of the night was a FG in the 1st quarter and thta gave them an early 3-0 lead.
After that it was all Mountain Pointe who would reel of the next 35 points.
Former Celina Coach and now the Head man at Mountain View Mike Fell looked back on the night and talked about going for it four times on 4th down (made two of them) with mynewsmesa.com:
“At that point, I didn’t know if we were going to stop them. They had two (drives) in a row they just went down the field, and I was thinking we better hang on to the football. We had it on our hands and dropped it.”
As for the half-time adjustments the Toros made:
“I told one of my assistants you work your butt off at halftime making all of these adjustments and just like that they blew it up. We can’t let that happen.”
The Toros are now on a 2-game losing streak and stand at 2-2 on the year.
