(10-1-17) -Bellmont’s Macy Montgomery had a Freshman softball season to remember. Today the Sophomore verbally committed to play softball at the University of Indiana.
This past season Montgomery threw a ‘Perfect’ Perfect game in a 10-0 6-inning win over conference rival DeKalb. Montgomery recorded 18 K’s for all 18 outs. On offense she had 1 hit, 2 RBIs and scored 2 runs.
Montgomery can also hit, she had a .554 avg, with 41 hits, 29 runs scored and 15 RBIs.
To build on her high school season this past summer she was a key part of the Indiana Magic Gold’s 3rd place finish at the PGF Softball Nationals 14-under Premier (B Bracket) tournament in Huntington Beach, California. Montgomery went 4-0 for the tournament with 31 strikeouts in 23 innings.
She will play for new Hoosier Coach Shonda Stanton who was hired in June. Stanton comes to IU from Marshall where she served as head coach for 18 seasons. At Marshall, Stanton became the winningest coach in program history with 560 victories and has posted 12 seasons with 30 or more wins.
