(6-1-18) When the OHSAA D III Baseball tournament started several weeks ago South Range was 11-15, never state ranked and had just finished a one-year run as an independent. Tomorrow they will play for a state title against Coldwater. A ‘Cinderella’ story much like the 1993 Coldwater basketball team accomplished in reaching the state finals with a losing record.
Thr Raiders advanced yesterday to the final game after winning their semifinal game over Madeira 7-0.

Freshman Jake Gehring was a two-way star for the Raiders, throwing a complete game walking just one and striking out 6. On the offensive side with two outs in the 6th inning and the bases loaded Gehring had a key hit in the game with a 3-run triple.
The Raiders will most likely look to their other reliable starter, Sam Brooks who went 6 innings in their Regional final game win over Grand Valley 4-1 giving up one run on 3 walks and 6 strikeouts. Brandon Youngs finished up the final inning allowing just one hit, one walk, and a strikeout to end the game.
