A note to Roughrider Football Fans and Roughrider Philanthropic Association Donors from the RPA –
(7-9-18) Around a year and a half ago we started our public fundraising push, our mantra for the construction of the new Roughrider Athletic Complex has remained “Do It Right”. This phrase has been echoed by many of you when we’ve spoken to your organization or seen you around town. The 2018 football season is fast approaching. We are excited to announce that construction of the new concession stands, restrooms, ticket gates, and parking lots at the new athletic complex is scheduled to begin July 16th. State of the art LED lights and a 4,500 capacity, home and away custom bleacher design, are scheduled to be installed mid to late August. The project is moving forward: plans are completed, schedules are in place, and materials are ordered. With that being said, after much discussion and consultation with the St. Marys City Schools and Bruns Construction, it is obvious to us that we cannot “Do It Right” by rushing construction to try to finish in time for the first football game this year. The new stadium should be completed by the end of 2018, in time for spring track season. We remain with our “foot on the gas” for fundraising and will continue to seek pledges and donations until we blow past our $3,000,000 goal and beyond, we still need you to encourage your family and friends to pledge or reach out to us for more information.
This will be a big year as it will be the Farewell Season to Skip Baughman Stadium. Ticket renewal information for the 2018 season will be mailed out this week. It will also include ticket information for the 2019 inaugural football season at Alumni Field! You will notice on the 2019 ticket information that “500 Club Members” will be given first opportunity to choose their seats in the new complex.
