(9-15-18) What looked to be a season to remember for the Page (NC) Pirates football team has turned into a nightmare season. Page had started the season with a 4-0 record.

But at the start of this  week is when it started to take the turn,  first Coach Jared Rolfes (former Celina Coach) and his Pirates found out that they would have to reschedule their Friday night game with Reagan due to the impending weather that would be coming from Hurricane Florence to Wednesday night. In a game that saw the Pirates lose their first game of the season to Reagan 14-7 , highlighted when they had 14 penalties for 117 yards.

Thursday’s news would not improve the week for Page when  greensboro.com reported that it looked like the Pirates will have to forfeit three of their first four wins (Davie County on Aug. 17, Northern Guilford on Aug. 24 and Dudley on Aug. 31) because two Pirate varsity players who participated in those games were academically ineligible.

Guilford County Schools officials have said that violations have been reported to the North Carolina High School Athletic Association and that Page could also be facing a fine as well.

To add to the ‘week to forget’ it was announced that Page AD, Rusty Lee, would be retiring, effective October 1st.

Page wiil have to try and overcome last week’s turmoil as the Pirates are scheduled to play its next game Friday night (September 21st) at Southern Guilford.
