(6-23-19) Cincinnati Moeller won the big school division of the Chicagoland Summer Basketball Classic.
Cincinnati Moeller beat defending Nebraska state semifinalist Bellevue West 53-52 in the championship game. Evan Mahaffey was fouled on an offensive rebound and made two free throws with one second left for the win. Logan Duncomb, an incoming 6-foot-9 junior, scored 21 points for Moeller.
Moeller coach Carl Kremer talked to the Rockford Register Star about the opportunity to play in Rockford, Illinois who hosted the 40-team summer high school tourney.
“We really appreciate them having i. It’s an opportunity for our kids to play in front of college coaches. it was well run. Everything was on time and the officiating was solid. We would definitely do this again.”
Lima Sr. lost the 1st game in the Championship bracket to drop to the consolation bracket, but would forfeit its next game to Rockford Jefferson.
