A man in his late 20s who was the star of his high school football team, but whose career was ended when he shattered his leg in his final season. After hitting his head a decade later, he wakes up to find himself back in time, a week before the big game.

(7-2-20) You never heard of a high school football movie about a team from Coldwater (Ohio) who starred Kurt Russell? Don’t feel to bad you are not the only one.

Besides Russell, who played Coldwater Coach Hand, Brian Presley, in 1996 he was the quarterback for the Oklahoma state championship winning football team, played the lead as Scott Murphy, Melanie Lynskey (best known as Rose on 2 1/2 Men) as his wife as Macy,  Marc Blucas (known for his role as Agent Riley Finn in Buffy the Vampire Slayer) as Hall and veteran actress Christine Lahti as Thelma.

Filming took place in both Ohio and Michigan during July and August 2010. The primary filming location was Coopersville, Michigan at the High School football stadium. Additional filming occurred in Grand Rapids, Ravenna Township and River View High School in Warsaw, Ohio. But the film crew never stepped foot in Mercer County.

One scene was filmed in Ohio Stadium on October 23, 2010 during the Ohio State-Purdue game. ‘Touchback’ marked the first time Ohio Stadium and the Coopersville HS Stadium had appeared in a motion picture.

The film was released on April 13, 2012 and had very limited distribution and disappointing box office sales (only grossed $204,232). Distributed domestically by Anchor Bay and in China by Bliss Media .

‘Touchback’ will never be a movie remember liked ‘Hoosiers’, but it is a feel good movie about 2nd chances that the entire family can sit down, watch and enjoy.  You can stream it now on You Tube (free).
