(8-22-21) The Western Buckeye League (WBL) has only one week scheduled for non-conference games, which is week one. The WBL stays above the .500 mark going 6-4.
With the new playoff system and double the qualifiers moving on…this 1st year will see what impact these non-conference games have on the computer points. In the past non-conference game points have been a key to making the playoffs.

In three Midwest Athletic Conference (MAC) vs. WBL games… Coldwater, Versailles and Marion Local had no problems in picking up the wins over Kenton, Celina and Wapakoneta.
Elida, Defiance and Bath all won with the defenses picking up shut outs to start the season.
St. Marys first time coach Bo Frye, who replaced his dad Doug, picked up his first ever varsity coaching win when the Roughriders beat London 10-7. Also making his head coaching debut was Kenton’s Zach Turner, who replaced Brett Fackler…the Wildcats lost to Coldwater.
Defending State Champ Van Wert started where they left off last season putting a lot of points on the board and outscoring Bryan 47-28.
Celina was the only team shut out on the night.
