(9-18-21) Niles bounced back from a lopsided loss to Edwardsburg last week by beating Three Rivers 22-16.

Three Rivers jumped out to a quick 14-0 1st quarter lead and it didn’t look good for the blue and gold. But the Vikings fought off the slow start and pick up the win. For Scot Shaw last night’s win had to be a character builder.

Many Niles fans have been thru some tough years…a 3-1 start to the season has to put some smiles on their faces.

Shaw told the Niles Daily Star about his QB Talon Brawley –

“He did a great job tonight of running the offense. He did things tonight that we’ve been wanting him to do for the first four weeks. Our fullbacks ran the ball well and our line blocked well in the second half.”

Julian Means-Flewellen led the Vikings rushing for 112 yards on 20 carries and scoring all three Niles TDs (5, 1 and 4 yards).

Next week Niles is on the road at Vicksburg (3-1), the Bulldogs lost their first game of the season last night to Edwardsburg 49-0.

Brandywine (2-2) lost their 2nd consecutive game losing to state-ranked Sand Creek (3-1) 62-34.

Sand Creek’s John Alexander rushed for 271 yards and six touchdowns. Scoring on runs of 52, five, 16, 63, 19 and 25 yards.

The Bobcats bright spot was Michael Palmer who rushed for 174 yards on 27 carries, including TD runs of 9 and 62 yards.
