
(6-23-22) Doug Whiteman has been named the new head boy’s varsity basketball coach at Liberty-Benton High School. Whiteman has 16 years of coaching experience, ten of which were spent at as a varsity assistant at St. John Jesuit, where they were TRAC and District Champions in 2018 and 2021.
Whiteman was named the the head girls basketball coach at Nelsonville-York in 2015.

Whiteman replaces veteran Eagles’ coach Ben Gerken who had coached for 27 years, 23 of those years years he has been at Liberty-Benton, first as an assistant coach and was named the head coach in 2014. Gerken led Liberty-Benton to a 114-75 record during that time as head coach. Gerken is the High School principal at the school.
