(7-4-22) It is a short drive from Ft. Recovery to Ft. Wayne and that is good news for the Thwaits family. It was a happy day when the Padres after spring training assigned Nick Thwaits to play for the Tin Caps. Thwaits spent last season on the West Coast at Lake Elsinore and before that he was in Arizona.

The opportunity for any pro player to play near his family doesn’t happen that often…but it sure has worked out for the Thwaits. Besides his family many of the folks back home have had the chance to visit Ft, Wayne and catch a Tin Caps game.

Thwaits skipped college ball after being drafted by the Padres in the 15th round after his Senior year. This season is a chance to play in a High Class A legaue and is a good sign about his future.

Marion Local grad and a Padres #1 draft choice Cory Luebke made a stop in Ft. Wayne on his way to tje majors.
