(11-2-22) #7 seed St. Marys (9-2) will make the long road trip on Friday to #2 seed West Holmes (11-0) for a D IV Region 14 Quarterfinal playoff game.

West Holmes is a ‘scoring machine‘, thanks to an offense that produces in the air and on the ground. The Knights had 412 yards total offense, 252 passing yards and 160 on the ground against Shelby in the opening round game win 49-7. Sam Williams-Dixon (Jr. • 5′ 11″ • 194 lbs) had 11 carries with 94 yards with 2 TDs and has 25 on the season. QB Mason Wolfe (Sr. • 6′ 3″ • 190 lbs) had 3 TD passes in the win and now has 37 TD passes on the season, a new school record. Kyle Maltarich (Jr. • 6’ 2″ • 170 lbs) had his 19th TD catch of the year, tying a school record.

In a 11 games the Knights have only been held under 40 points one time when they scored 37 vs. Mansfield Senior. On the season they scored 60 or more points twice, 50 points or more three times, 49 points and 48 points once. On defense in 10 of the 11 games they held the opponent to 14 points or less.

In their opening playoff win the Roughriders beat Buckeye Valley, who was playing in their 1st ever playoff game, 42-18. St. Marys was led by Aiden Hinkle (Sr. • 6′ 0″ • 215 lbs) who picked up 217 yards on 22 carries with four touchdowns (11, 62, 6, 2 yards). Hinkle has 25 TDs on the season, 1,628 yards rushing and has now rushed for over 3,000 yards during his career.

The Roughriders attempted just one pass during the game and it was incomplete. On the season Cody Wallace (Jr. 6’3 200 lbs) is 21 of 41 for just 441 yards.

St. Marys losses this season came to Western Buckeye League rivals Wapakoneta and Van Wert…both in the playoffs and 10-1 records.
