(6-25-23) 1968 in Celina football was a magic season when the Bulldogs went 10-0 and won the Western Buckeye League (WBL) title. There were no OHSAA playoffs at this time, but that didn’t matter it was for Bulldogs fans a year to remember.
The WBL only had 8 members during the 1968 season with Celina going 7-0 in league play.
While the offense was racking up points the defense was holding their own, only twice did they give up double-digit points…beating St. Marys 40-12 and in an epic battle between two county rivals in week 8 the Bulldogs held on to beat Coldwater 23-20.
It wasn’t exactly a cakewalk for Celina with close call wins over Van Wert 14-6, O-G 9-6 and Shawnee 15-6.

Over the years three key members of the team have been inducted into the Bulldog Athletic Hall of Fame, Bill Simons, Ken Klosterman and Brian Rodgers.
