(6-2-24) The Kentucky Jr. All-Stars and the Kentucky All-Stars matched up in both boys and girls games yesterday at Louisville Eastern High School.

In the girls game the Jr. All-Stars nipped the All-Stars 79-78, thanks to a 3-pt buzzer beater by Frederick Douglass’ Niah Rhodes. The Jr. team was led by Danville Christian’s Grace Mbugua who had 19 points and 7 rebounds.

The All-Stars were led by Russell’s Shaelyn Steele with 19 points and 8 rebounds and Sacred Heart Academy’s Angelina Pelayo with a double-double of 12 points and 12 rebounds.

In the boys game…the Kentucky All-Stars picked up a win over the Jr. All-Stars 124-98. The All-Stars led by just two points at halftime 51-49, but exploded with 73 points in the 2nd half.

The Kentucky All-Stars had six players in double-figures including Oldham County’s Max Green with 27 points, Mr. Kentucky and Lyon County’s Travis Perry had 18 points and Lyon County’s Brady Shoulders had a double-double with 15 points and 11 rebounds.

Ashland Blazer’s Zander Carter led the Jr. All-Stars with 20 points, Frederick Douglass’ Melo Boone added 16 points and Harlan County’s Maddox Huff had 15 points.

Indiana All-Star week officially gets started Sunday (today) when the Indiana Junior All-Stars play the Kentucky Juniors at Scottsburg.
