(6-21-24) Ohio High Schools will start football practice on August 1st…just around the corner.

Below is the 2024 non-conference schedules for the Midwest Athletic Conference (MAC) and the Western Buckeye League (WBL).

Both conferences have ten members…WBL members start week 1 with a non-conference game and that is followed by playing the next 9 weeks against league opponents. The MAC members play only 8 conference games…that was changed several years ago when it was (the Parkway Rule) decided to let members play one extra non-conference game. The change was made when only 8 schools from each region would qualify for the state playoffs and computer points were at a minimum.

This year sees several 1st week game match-ups change.

Celina and Versailles have ended their long run, the Bulldogs will host Columbus South, while the Tigers will open up the season with Milton-Union. Wapakoneta replaces MAC rival Marion Local with Toledo St. John’s Jesuit.

O-G will start with Liberty-Benton in place of last year’s opponent Eastwood. Eastwood will open against Kenton who for many years started with Coldwater. The Cavs will open the season this year against Valley View.

Delphos St. John’s will open against Lehman Catholic after starting last year against crosstown rival Jefferson.

During MAC week 2… Coldwater will play Clinton-Massie after a one-year deal with Bellefontaine. Parkway will play Delphos Jefferson in place of North Central. Minster will play Africentric replacing Graham from last season.

Two MAC schools will play long-ride games…in week 1 Marion Local will cross the Hoosier state to take on Linton-Stockton that is over 200 miles away and a 3 hour 40 minute bus ride. The other long-distance game is during week 2 when New Bremen takes on Norton on 180 mile bus ride and a 2 hour 43 minute ride.
