(6-3-17) Day two of the D III OHSAA State Track and Field Championships are in the book.

Five different events placed Stateline area runners and relay teams on the podium.

Two individuals made the podium, Coldwater’s Savannah Seibert (Jr) placed 5th in the 300 meter hurdles, while Ft. Recovery’s Robby LeFevere (Soph) picked up a 5th place finish in the 200 meter dash.

Three local relay teams picked up points for their schools, Marion Local’s 800 meter relay team picked up a 4th place finish (Natalie Rethman (10) Brooke Homan (9) Jessie Kramer (12) Kylie Albers (11) ), Parkway’s 400 meter relay team (Clista Hellwarth (12), Rachel Barrett (9), Ansley Burtch (9), Sydney Crouch (11)) was 7th.

Ft. Recovery’s 400 meter relay team (Riley Pearson (9) Jared Timmerman (9) Brayden Schoen (10) Robby LeFevre (10)) finished in 8th, the team featured two freshmen and two sophomores.

The D III Girls state championship came down to the last race of the day, with Minster leading St. Peter’s 32-30 and Anna by just four points who had 28.

The 1,600 meter relay would see Anna take 1st place with a time of 3:56.31 and pick up the 10 points for the win, Minster would finish 5th (4:03.35) and four points. The difference would give Anna their first girls state track championship nipping the Wildcats by just two points 38-36.

For Minster it was their 6th runner-up (2017, 15, 1984, 83, 81 and 75) finish at State, plus they have won 12 State titles (2004, 03, 02, 01, 1989, 85,82, 80, 79, 78, 77 and 76), their last in 2004.

Celina’s Paige Sutter (12) ended her high school career with a 3rd place podium finish in the D I OHSAA State Track and Field Finals in the shot put.
