(7-17-17) Last year at the OHSAA State Football Championships no team finished the season undefeated. Cuyahoga Heights (D VI) was the only school to enter the championship week undefeated, but would lose to Marion Local in the title game.
That leaves two Ohio schools with double-digit winning streaks. The current #1 win streak in Ohio belongs to Akron Archbishop Hoban with 13 wins a row, after winning the D III title. Hoban’s last loss came in the 2nd game of the 2016 season 10-7 to Edwardsville St. Edward. Hoban will open the 2017 season on Thursday, August 24th at home against Cleveland St. Ignatius, who was the D I state runner-up.
Right behind Hoban is Midwest Athletic Conference member Marion Local, who won the D VI title, with 12 wins in a row. The Flyers last loss came in the third week of the 2016 season to MAC rival Coldwater 17-14. Next up for Marion Local is the season opener against Dayton Chaminade Julienne at home on Friday, August 25th.
