(12-30-17) Apparently the Grinch is now working for the Ohio High School Athletic Association. In a tweet that is going viral, the OHSAA has told Flyin’ To The Hoops that there will be no pre-game dunking allowed or the use of the shot clock during prep games.
The January tournament brings in many of the top players and teams from around Ohio and the US.
Both rulings come from the National Federation of State High School Associations:
- NFHS rules prohibit basketball players from dunking during pregame warm-ups. If a player does dunk during warm-ups, the team’s coach is assessed a technical foul.
- Shot clocks were recently voted down by the NFHS membership, Wisconsin had planned on using a shot clock next season, but that was recently overturned by WIAA members before it had a chance to work.
If any state association violates the above rules, they are no longer allowed to vote or submit rule changes on issues with basketball.
