(2-25-18) – This year’s All Mercer County Boys Basketball Team features several Player of the Year candidates, but in the end St. Henry’s Tyler Schlarman shined this season and picks up the honor.

Schlarman, one of the hardest working players in the county, showed his versatility every time he was on the floor this season. Schlarman was 2nd in the county in scoring (18.3 ppg), led the county in rebounding (8 rpg), 2nd in 3-point FGs made (34) and also had 2.7 assists a game. Schlarman helped to lead the Redskins to a 19-3 regular season record and 8-1 in the MAC for a 2nd place finish behind Marion Local.

MAC Champion Marion Local places two players on this year’s team, Nathan Bruns and Tyler Mescher, they were two of the main reason for the Flyers (18-4, 9-0) success this year and a MAC Championship. Mescher (16.6) and Bruns (14.8) were 3rd and 4th in the county scoring. Bruns was 2nd in rebounding with 7 a game and also averaged 2.6 assists a game. Ft. Recovery’s Payton Jutte, picked up his offense this by leading the county in scoring with 20.4 points a game, averaged 5.1 rebounds a game and led the county in 3-point FGs made with 56.

Coldwater’s most consistent player this year has been Marcus Bruns, he had a 13 point scoring average, shot just under 50% from the field, near 80% from the free throw line, 42% behind the arc and made 30 3’s.
