(5-11-18) – Yesterday at O-G, Celina picked up their 2nd consecutive WBL Boys Track Championship, while the Van Wert Girls won their first WBL title since 1976.

BOYS

Celina used their solid depth to pick up their 8th WBL Track Championship (2018, 17, 11, 1997, 95, 92, 85, 84) and 2nd consecutive title. The Bulldogs out-distanced 2nd place Elida 112-103. Celina was led by Seniors Tyler Ross and Adrian Hurley. Ross repeated as the WBL champion in the discus, while Hurley won the 800 meter run. Two Bulldog relays won WBL titles, including the decisive 4X400 to solidify the championship. The Bulldogs also won the 4X200 relay.

GIRLS

42 years ago in 1976 Van Wert won their last WBL Girls Track Championship, but that streak was ended on Friday as the Cougars outdistanced 2nd place Elida 99-88. The Cougars now have three WBL titles, they also won in 1975. Celina, the defending champions, finished 3rd with 68 points. Bulldog Senior Lauren Jackson won the 800 meter run.
