(5-8-19) Today at a press conference in Convoy Doug Etzler was named the new boys basketball head coach at Crestview. Etzler will follow in his dad’s footsteps Hall of Fame Coach Ray Etzler, who the gym is named after.

Etzler replaces Jeremy Best, who spent the past 17 seasons leading the Knights during his time to two state championships, including this years D IV ctitle.

Etzler, a 1991 Crestview grad, is the Knights’ all-time leading scorer and assist leader. Etzler for the past 14 years has been the head coach at Division I Teays Valley in Ashville, Ohio where he had a record of 160-152, winning three Mid State League titles and three sectional championships.

For Etzler the return home will allow him to coach his nephew, Kalen. Kalen, the No. 51 overall prospect in America and is the second-rated Ohioan in 2021.

Etzler played at Ohio State from 1992-1995.
