(11-10-19) Saturday night’s first round football playoff continued the streak in the three Stateline Regions when #8 New Bremen knocked off #1 New Miami 45-13 in D VII Region 28. With the win New Bremen will take on NWCC Champion #5 Perry who won their first ever playoff game over #4 Cincinnati College Prep 40-0.

November 9th (Saturday)

D VII Region 28

  • #8 New Bremen  45 #1 New Miami 13
  • #2 Marion Local 56 #7 Mississinawa Valley  6
  • #3 Ft. Loramie 61 #6 Hardin Northern 7
  • #5 Perry 40 #4 Cincinnati College Prep 0

#2 Marion Local and #3 Ft. Loramie rolled to first round wins on Saturday. Marion Local handled #7 Mississinawa Valley 56-6, while Ft. Loramie rolled by #6 Hardin Northern 61-7. The Flyers and Redskins should be one of the feature games in D VII in Ohio next Saturday.

After this first weekend it might be a good time for the OHSAA to tweak the formula for the future. The OHSFCA recently submitted a proposal to expand the playoffs in the future, but will adding more teams help?

New Bremen finished 5th in the MAC with a 5-3 record and easily knocked off an undefeated and conference champion in New Miami.

Three #8 seeds beat three #1 seeds in all three stateline area regions…odds on that happening?

Conference scoreboard –

  • MAC – wins 3 out of 5 (one game was MAC match-up Anna vs Minster)
  • WBL  – wins 2 out of 4
