The 2019 overall attendance was down again this year and at its lowest level in the past five years. The 45,580 fans was down 6,810 from last season, and down 16,509 from 2015.
This year four of the seven championships had smaller crowds then last season and all were the smallest crowds in the past five years.. The D VII game increased by just 37 fans. The D VI title game had the largest increase from 4,380 in 2018 to 6,147 this year.

X-Factor in 2019
This year in the D II State Championship game Massillon Washington (14-0) will play Cincinnati La Salle (12-2) on Thursday. Last season (2018) Akron Hoban and Massillon Washington (both Canton area schools) played in the D II game which drew a whopping 16, 213 (highest in four years). 9,000 more paid attendance then the year before.
Saturday’s Big 10 Championship game between Ohio State and Wisconsin is scheduled to start at 8pm, the same time that the D V State Championship game is scheduled to start between Ironton (13-1) vs. Kirtland (14-0).
Ticket prices are way to high for a high school game as is parking cost.
