(5-15-20) The Celina City Schools Board of Education will look to hire two new head basketball coaches at its monthly meeting on Monday night.

For both coaches it will be their first head coaching positions. Adam Johns, a 2007 St. Marys Grad, has been teaching 8th grade Social Studies at Wapakoneta and has been the JV Boys Basketball Coach, he will take over for veteran Jay Imwalle who stepped down at the end of this past season.

Johns had an impressive career at St. Marys, a three-time All-WBL selection, two-time All-Northwest District and Special Mention All-Ohio in Division II.

The girls new head coach is Branden Rushton a Reynolodsburg Ohio grad, who is the husband of Cenzie (a Celina grad), who stepped down at the end of the season to accept an assistant women’s basketball coaching job at Ohio Northern University. Rushton assisted his wife during her two-year run as head coach at Celina.

Rushton, brings a strong basketball pedigree to the job, he was a four year starter, receiving All-OAC honors all four years and was a 2014 Great Lakes Region Honorable Mention recipient.

Rushton currently ranks sixth all-time at Ohio Northern with 1,493 career points.
