Most famous mission

The B-25 is bedt known for the Doolittle Raid of April 18, 1942. Sixteen B-25s were launched from the aircraft carrier USS Hornet to attack targets in Japan. It was the first U.S. air raid on the Japanese home islands during World War II.

Unlike the B-52, the B-25 was a much smaller propeller-driven bomber, designed to operate from land bases and, in the extraordinary case of the Doolittle Raid, from an aircraft carrier.
