(9-1-26) A Grove City Police report says that officers, with the help of the Glenville High School football coaches, were able to identify nine juveniles and two adults (aged 18) from video surveillance footage that was taken at Dick’s Sporting Goods. The 11 teens have all been charged with theft.
The Incident
A store employee called 911 and told dispatch a large group of boys who they believed were from the Glenville football team and had stolen merchandise.and that the kids had “ransacked” the store and left security tags, clothing tags, and empty boxes thrown around.

The reported amount of the stolen merchandise was $4,552.04.

The two adults identified in a Grove City Police report were 18-year-old Eason Hankins and 18-year-old Ty Martin. According to Hankins’ X account, he previously committed to play football at Kent State University.
Glenville was in town to play Olentangy Liberty and beat them 34-13 on Friday, August 28. According to game footage, at least two of the suspects, Martin and Hankins, played in that game.
According to the police report, Glenville Head Coach Ted Ginn Sr. turned in two bags of clothing and a pair of football cleats to the police later that evening.
OHSAA’s rules and bylaws indicate that conduct outside of an athletic contest, it is up to the school to decide the athlete’s participation.
Glenville’s football team has won three of the past four OHSAA Division IV state football championships.
No arrests had been made by Tuesday afternoon.
