(9-25-26) Highland Sophomore Goalkeeper Nolan Hoyng had a game to remember with a game saving stop in a key game with rival Clear Fork that led to a 0-0 tie.
Hoyng is the the grandson of Mike Hoyng and Carla (Drexler) Hoyng. Grandma and grandpa have strong Coldwater and Celina roots (see family background in story link below).. Seth and Amy Hoyng are Nolan’s parents.
The Hoyng family has a lot of high school football and basketball background…soccer can now be added to that list.

OH ReportLate in the second half, Highland goalkeeper Nolan Hoyng found himself facing against Clear Fork‘s top scorer Kade Beachy, who powered a well-placed kick toward the net. Hoyng used his experience and instincts to react quickly enough to block the attempt, preserving a scoreless tie that held up as the final score and earned the sophomore the Play of the Game.
Hoyng credited his teammates for their efforts in the match and made it clear that the key for the team to achieve championship status is to avoid mental lapses while always playing hard till the very end.
As a result, Highland and Clear Fork remain tied atop the Mid Ohio Athletic Conference standings.
