Smyna, TN  – (6/24/17) – Sun Prairie (Wisconsin) and Harlem (Illinois) both have won titles at  the 2017 U.S. High School Bowling Boys and Girls Team National Championships.

For Harlem it has been quite the year for the Huskies, both the boys and girls won IHSA state bowling championships. This was Harlem’s first trip to the national event, which is in its second year of competition, a title and a runner-up finish puts the ‘cherry’ on the top for both teams.

In the boys title match, Sun Prairie beat Harlem 663 to 625 in the 3-game Baker match to pick-up the National Title. Sun Prairie finished third in last year’s inaugural event.

In the qualifying round, Harlem qualified in the #1 spot rolling a 4,098 to outdistance 2nd place O’Fallon who rolled a 3,906, Sun Prairie of the Big 8 Conference (same conference as Beloit Memorial, Janesville Craig and Janesville Parker) qualified 5th with a 3,604.

41 schools bowled in the boys event.

Boys Qualifying Round

In the girls title match, Harlem upended Tennessee’s Hardin County in their 3-game Baker match 619 to 584 to pick up the National Title in their first try.

In the qualifying round Hardin County was in the top spot with a 3,582 score, while Harlem was in the third spot at 3,554. Round 2 saw Hardin County hanging on to the #1 spot 4,183, just in front of the Huskies with a 4,180 score.

30 schools from around the US competed in the girls tournament.
