(10-28-17) – Ft. Recovery’s Will Homan is this week’s SSN Player of the Week.
Homan had a record breaking game that helped his team knock off St. Henry 28-16 and lead the Indians to a Region 24 playoff berth and knocking the Redskins out of the playoffs in the process.
Homan rushed for a Mercer County record of 420 yards on 32 carries, eclipsing the old Mercer County single-game record set in 1993 by St. Henry’s Doug Speck who had 340 yards in a game. Plus, he set the single-season rushing record with 2,282 (unofficial) yards, passing Marion Local’s Marc Otte when he ran for 2,110 yards and set in 2006. The good news, he plays again next week.
On the night Homan had three TD runs of 65, 75 and 9 yards.
Celina’s Kole Murlin rushed for 2 TDs (20,4) on 11 carries and 76 yards to lead the Bulldogs to a 49-7 win over Shawnee. Plus, Murlin was perfect on extra points goin 5 for 5. The Bulldogs finished 9th in D III Region 12, one spot from qualifying for the playoffs.
Marion Local QB Nathan Bruns made the most of his passing opportunities going for 2 TDs (65 and 27) on 4 for 5 passing and 152 yards in 39-0 win over Parkway. With the win the Flyers are 10-0 with an outright MAC title and 22 consecutive wins in a row.
Adams Central Drew Schultz rushed 17 times for 85 yards and a TD as the Flying Jets beat Churubusco 17-14 in the second round of the IHSAA playoffs..
