South dominates North in All-Star Classic

It may have been an exhibition game, but someone forgot to tell that to former Cascade standout Brady Trebley and former Lapel quarterback Devin Craig. The two put on a clinic in their final high school football game, as Trebley was a perfect 7-of-7 for 133 yards and two touchdowns, while Craig was 11-of-20 for 179 yards, as the two helped lift the South to a 23-9 win over the North in the 60th Annual Murat Shrine IFCA North-South All-Star Classic at Decatur Central High School Friday night.

On the night, Trebley and Craig combined to go 18-of-27 for 312 yards and three touchdowns in a game that featured a first of four made field goals.

Early on, it was the North that held a slim 9-6 advantage, thanks to three field goals from North kicker Ethan Need, who played at Twin Lakes.

All that was erased in the fourth quarter, as the South would score 17 unanswered points on the arms of Trebley and Craig. Trebley, who won a Class 3A state title last November, opened the fourth quarter, drilling Hamilton Southeastern’s Kendrick Pennybakerfor an 8-yard touchdown pass. Craig would come in and provide fireworks of his own, hitting Ben Davis standout Da’Vion Davis for a 30-yard bomb, pushing the South ahead 20-9.

The South outgained the North, 387 to 244. Leading the way for the South was Pennybaker, who reeled in six catches for 115 yards and a touchdown.

For the North, East Noble quarterback Rylee Biddle was 7-of-17 for 103 yards through the air and nine carries for 33 yards. Andrean’s Brady Elish was 2-of-3 for 1 yard and an interception, while adding 10 carries for 43 yards. East Chicago’s Derion Morris accounted for 110 all purpose yards, with more than half of that coming by way of kickoff returns.
