(3-20-17) Nathan Hale is the SSN Split-Public High School Boys Basketball Champions finishing the season at 29-0 thanks to the play of Michael Porter Jr.,  who averaged 34.8 points and 13.8 rebounds per game this season.  Porter was named the Naismith Trophy Player of the Year and his Coach, Brandon Roy, was named the Coach of the Year.

Eric Oberman, executive director of the Atlanta Tipoff Club:

“Michael was the leader of a talented team which worked hard and never lost sight of their end goal – a perfect season and winning a state title.  Coach Roy was the steady guidance who motivated this team to improve every single game and ultimately they both were rewarded by winning Naismith awards.”

Imhotep Charter  is the SSN Split-Private High School Boys Basketball Champions finishing the season at 29-2.  It easily could have been Bishop Montgomery who has shown at the end of the season they can knock off some of the top schools in the country.

Imhotep, is a part of the Philadelphia School District, but SSN has decided they have the qualities of Private High School.

Two schools who were highly ranked during most of the season, had a tough finish to the season.

#11 (Private) Sierra Canyon and #10 (Public) Chino Hills both end the season with three losses.

In the last SSN rankings only two Private schools and four Public schools have undefeated records in place.

Two schools,  #6 Shadow Mountain representing the Public Schools  and #6 Private School Greensboro Day will both participate in the field of eight at the Dick’s Nationals at the end of this month. The other six schools are from the Independent rankings.
