(5-18-17) – The Greenville City Schools Board of Education tonight approved the addition of field turf at Harmon Field.
The preliminary budget from an April of 2015 estimated project would cost as much as $4,925,000 to complete the entire project. The football field improvements, including the turf was estimated at a cost of $650,000.
The Friends of Harmon Field have been behind the project and have already generated donations for the project. One item still available for $250,000 is the naming rights of the field. Complete details of the project by the group can be found on the website.

Two area schools are also considering turf fields for the future, St. Marys and Coldwater, while Parkway is looking at a renovation of it’s football facility and a possible site location. Most schools site the fact that more than just football use the field and would allow for many benefits in scheduling, including state play-off games, lower maintenance fees and other cost savings over the years.
