(7-5-18) Ft. Recovery’s Nick Thwaits did quite well with his signing bonus of $450,000, with the Padres pool of bonus signing money the 7th highest this season at $10,462,000. Bonus signing pools are based on a major league baseball formula is set up on several different factors.

When you consider that any bonus money above $125,000 given to an individual player picked in rounds 11-40 counts against a team’s signing bonus pool, Thwaits (15th round) signing bonus cost the Padres $325,000 against their allotment.

Taking a look at two other recent Padre signings, Supplemental 2nd-rounder Grant Little (Texas Tech) signed for $800,000, while 12th-rounder Sean Guilbe (Tennessee commit) signed for $300,000…which is $150,000 less than Thwaits who was selected three rounds later in the 15th round.

Take a look at some recent signings of players from the 1st round to the 40th round.
