(5-18-21) Lima Sr. Teacher and Coach Alan Kingsbery (66) of Lima, has been indicted by an Allen County grand jury on a fourth degree felony charge of gross sexual imposition.
Kingsbery, who has resigned his positions, had been at Lima Senior since 2016 and has served as a cross-country and boys track coach.
It is alleged that Kingsbery on March 16 (2021) had sexual contact with a minor female whose ability to resist or consent “was substantially impaired because of a mental condition.”

Kingsbery was placed on paid administrative leave effective March 16, and Lima Police and Allen County Children Services were contacted at that time by school officials of the incident.
Jill Ackerman, Superintendent of Lima City Schools in a written statement –
“He was placed on unpaid administrative leave after he was taken into police custody April 1. The unpaid leave is standard procedure per board policy and Ohio law. The Ohio Department of Education has also been contacted,”

Alan Kingsbery, Olympic cyclist, lettered for three years (1972-74) in cross-country at Carthage College. He competed in the road race at the 1975 Pan American Games and the team time trial at the 1976 Olympics. At the US Championships, Kingsbery was 8th in the road race in 1976, after finishing 13th in 1974 and 1975. He had been a cross-country runner in high school, and he had a short elite cycling career, not by choice. He eventually returned to cycling in the late 1980s, competing in cycling events for the disabled. Kingsbery was inducted into the Carthage College Hall of Fame in 1991.
