(11-18-21) Last night at the Swanton Local Schools Board of Education meeting the possibility of joining the Toledo Area Athletic Conference (TAAC) was discussed.

Item on Swanton Schools Board of Education agenda – 11-17-21

The Swanton Local School District has been invited to become a member of the Toledo Area Athletic Conference. Last Friday Mr. Haselman and I (Superintendent Chris Lake ) met with the leadership of the TAAC to discuss what a possible Swanton membership in the league would look like. As the board is aware, I spent a fair amount of time over the last year working on finding a new home for Swanton athletics by inviting several area schools to form a new league. Many of the teams that I was talking to during this time are current members of the TAAC. The schools that comprise the TAAC are similar in size to Swanton and our shared history of competition shows that we are very evenly matched across the board in our sports. A move to the TAAC would represent an opportunity for Swanton athletics to be more competitive and more successful. In addition, the TAAC currently enjoys a TV contract with BCSN which would lead to more exposure for our district and our teams.

Present TAAC members include Ottawa Hills, Emmanuel Christian, Maumee Valley Country Day School, Toledo Christian, Cardinal Stritch, and Northwood. Football only members include Montpelier, Edon and Hilltop.
